MedusA
My two Silkies, who are now 20 weeks and 18 weeks, are still not "clucking". The noise they make is more of a quack. Is this usual for Silkies or will they grow out of it? It's not worrying, just weird. We started the introductions to the big girls yesterday. A bit of pecking and strutting by the bigger three, but then they went in the Silkies run and excavated pot holes. The Silkies had the bigger run to themselves and were investigating everything. sheik
Our lavender bantam (River) quacks all the time, it's not a joyous quack either, it sounds like she's complaining or disapproving Pootle is quieter, but this is possibly as she is at the low end of the pecking order. She still makes more of a quack than a cluck though, so maybe it is normal for them. Ours haven't started laying yet. We got them along with two hybrids, and River seems to be the boss. Occassionally our speckledy (who must be two or three times heavier) tries to stare down at her but River just leaps up and does a jumping peck attack, which restores order! sheik
She was called "Leia" for a few days, but it really didn't suit her. She's a bit dim bless her, so Pootle she now is, which suits her very well /\dam
