Fur 'n' Feathers
Today we witnessed Krasi taking her first dust bath She got in the dust bath (open terracotta bowl with playsand & Diatom) and flicked it a bit, then got out. She then got back in and was in there really going to town for nearly 15 minutes It was a joy to watch and we were transfixed At the same time Miso was watching but didn't interrupt. Kilo, meanwhile, was busy pecking the new mirror we put up (they didn't acknowledge CDs - obviously not techie enough for this ). When we went out out a while later, Kilo was on the lawn in the run next to the dust bath, which looked like someone else had been in it since we left them, attempting to dust bath on the grass and occasionally purring awwwwwwwwww bless!!! Haven't got half of what we need to do today done (The mirror, by the way, came from Tescos and cost £1.96! It is a circular vanity mirror about 4" across in a transparent plastic rim and on a simple transparent plastic swivel stand. We found, by dissembling it from the stand, that we could securely mount the mirror on the run by placing the stand vertically through the bars, reconnecting the mirror, then wedging about 2-3" of pipe insulating foam on the outside between the bars and the base of the stand. This effectively gives them a wall-mounted vanity mirror which they are all intrigued with )
Laura & CTB
Glad your chooks are having so much fun. THanks for the info about the mirror - I spent all morning looking for something suitable with no luck - guess it's a trip to Tescos for me!!
