Toy making - Introducing....

Recommended Posts

(drum rolls).... CROGGY... the rag croc (as in crocodile, not as in shoes)...

I posted my first ever ragdoll a while ago, and you kind people posted some lovely comments, so I thought I'd post a couple of pics of my second project, a croc made entirely of bits of old clothes (well washed), curtains and towels... I made it for a friend's new baby...

My DD4, however, seems to be taking a liking to it... so might have to make another one for her too some time...

Though she keeps saying 'Monkey' when pointing to it... please someone confirm that this is a problem with her knowledge of zoology, rather than a problem with my sewing!!

Made it from a pattern in a book, but was surprised to see that the picture in the book didn't fully correspond to the instructions... the pic showed a more intricate toy, than the pattern and instructions would make, with more panels of cloth making the croc's head for instance... also it felt like the instructions hadn't been tested... they say to put the croc's legs inside the croc and catch then in the sewing around the body, leaving an opening hardly bigger than an inch to then turn the toy the right way round... no way all those legs and fabric would have fitted through that tiny opening, so had to improvise a bit...

Anyway, enough rambling on, here he is :
