Mutrix Farmers
It's arrived, and two days early too - thanks Omlet! My girls can now free-range as I have some chicken netting. They shot straight out of the pen and ran round in circles for a while. Then Katie decided she could fly - she can't, she has had her wing clipped! All three of them made it onto the top of the run and stood there looking really please with themselves until they realised they didn't know how to get down They couldn't find the door to the pen at bedtime though so I had to show them where it was (no-one ever said chickens were bright!!) but once in the run they put themselves straight to bed as they were so tired. I plucked up the courage to pick each one up to give them a cuddle too. They all puffed out their feathers when I put them down as if disgusted that I should ruffle their feathers and proceeded to peck my shoes. I love chickens
Stevie
Yep-chickens really are great! Shame it took me this long to realise. I hope yours are happy freeranging now and enjoy their new added space.
TAJ
s well as not finding the door the other thing mine use to do was one would be in the run and the others outside and they would walk in the same direction - this resulted in the one in the run looking for a back door out of the eglu as the other two disappeared out of view and she couldn't grasp the concept of going away from them towards the run door was the only way to get closer. I love them being out in the omlet netting. Tracy
