Hi everyone,

 

Went to Kitnocks to get some supplies and I couldn't see any Hemcore! I asked if they had any and the chap said no but they had some Aubiose which I got instead. Shame really because I like the smell of Hemcore

Anyway I was talking to the chap and said that I'd heard Hemcore was difficult to get hold of (think I'd read on some threads that it was) and he told me that they were refurbishing their factory or wherever they make it up and that was why he'd had trouble getting it. He then said that the Aubiose place had had a fire so that might be a bit scarce too!

 

Or is this a cunning plot to increase prices?!

 

Don't want to be a scaremongerer but thought you all ought to know! Now no stockpiling!

I went to get some Aubiose yesterday and couldn't. The woman working in the shop said that her supplier didn't have any either. I got some hemcore instead and it does smell nice (but as others have said on here it does get up your finger nails)!

I just bought some Aubiose from a saddlery shop - £7.95 a bale - the chap said its the best and they use if for all their horses.

my supplier was told by the Hemcore people, it would be available again by mid-April (but it isn't) so he's going to ring them on Tuesday.

I've tried both and prefer Aubiose as it is softer and less compacted in the bale so easier to get out. I feel a bit bad buying a french product rather than a british one but do prefer Aubiouse, even though it is a bit more expensive.

I went to my local equine supplier the other day to get some aubiose (in readiness for my happy arrivals ) and was told they didn't stock it, but instead offered me Equisorb, which, apparently, is the English version of aubiose.

 

Has anyone used this and, if so, what did you think?

**Equisorb** is flax based, whereas **Aubiose** is hemp based.

 

Hemcore is the British equivalent of Aubiose.

 

I have never used Equisorb, but from the sound of things, it does the same job.

Due to the shortage of Hemcore I've been using Sundown Yellow which is different again but they all seem to do pretty much the same job. SY is also cheaper too.
