Is anyone a Community / Family Support Worker ? Question....

Recommended Posts

I've just applied for a job as a Community Support Worker (working within the team I work in now) and one of the essential things to know is "An understanding of the structure and function of health and social care services".

Does this mean the structure as in (for Health) Community Mental Health Teams, Primary Care Trusts, Community Matrons etc. and for social care would it be e.g. services for families, services for children or would the structure be about giving info. and advice, assessments, occupational therapy, home based care etc ??

I know this is a bit of a nightmare question to ask but wondered if anyone in Omlet land would know ??

Thank you :oops::D

That is how I would interpret it (as in the first part of your response). You would need a knowledge of the whole health and social care system, the different 'departments', how they interract with each other and what their areas of responsibility are. As community support worker, I am guessing that you might need to refer to each of these agencies at different times, depending on the individual circumstances so would need a working knowledge of the most appropriate one to refer to and when to refer.

Hope this helps! Just throwing a few ideas into the pot! :lol:
