If your local Sainsburys still has the Basic tins of sweet corn at 15p, you might want to buy the lot. Four days ago, at Sainsburys on the Greenwich Peninsula, they were 15p a tin. Today, they are 29p a tin. My chooks are going to have to be rationed.

I normally stay away from the tins because a lot of them have sugar and salt worth people stocking up if they use this though.

My chooks adore sweet corn, but it's been 25p a tin for ages in Tesco. Or - rather stupidly - 76p for three ?!

I have given them corn on the cob twice but it is really too expensive!

I think everyone who uses the tinned sweet corn does remember to rinse it well first; I know I do.

The trick is to let the children have corn on the cob for tea, they eat about half and leave the rest for the chickens

nope have decided I am sticking with the two I have. They love each other to bits.

Maybe in the future I might add two more, but that will be in the future

i'll keep my eye out, lasttime i bought some i bought sugar and salt free lol i'm lazy.

I agree corn on the cob is too expensive and when i bought it they wouldn't touch it

If anyone has seen my posting earlier in the week about manure on our allotment they will know I have a whole bed on my allotment which due to the manure (basically a new chemical herbicide that kills all else as it carries on working in the manaure for 2 years!). The only think that can be grown is sweetcorn - three packets of seeds, so from late summer they will be able to have as much sweetcorn as they want!

omg just been into Tesco and it's not 25p a tin (for the non sugar ones) it's gone up to 38p. Wot a rip off! Now 1.06 for three where it was 76p! Back to the grapes. And thanks for the tip on rinsing. Didnt bother cos it was sugar free. will now. when i can afford it!

I try to grow stuff 4 my chooks, its cheap, has few food miles and I know whats gone in to it! I try to grow stuff that has waste that we won't eat but that they will happily consume, I'm never going to grow enough even for the 3 of them but
