How did you find out about Omlet?

Recommended Posts

At a museum (possibly an Arts one) in Glasgow in September 2005. Thought it was a fantastic idea, never even considered keeping chickens as pets, despite living almost next to a farm!

It got to November before mum brought up the subjects of chickens, and got them by christmas that year! Then after a year decided that the three bought from omlet were simply not enough, and had to buy another one from a poultry farm nearby, aged only 3 weeks - spent a couple of months living indoors so that she wasn't too cold, and eating special food compared to the others :D

Would never look back now though, it would make days at home boring if there were no chickens in the back - and occasionally into the front, and next door, and next door again :?

I'd been talking about having chickens for ages, then my OH bought me the book "Keeping Pet Chickens" 2 Christmasses (sp?) ago. As it's jointly written by Omlet's very own Johannes, it features the eglu. I had that Eureka moment and knew I had found the answer to my prayers. :D

I saw them at the Gardener's World Show at the NEC last June and liked them. My neighbour thought they were great.

Then in September, hubby bought an old tractor as a toy (reckons I'm going to do the weekly shop on it) and I said "if you're having a tractor, I'm having chickens" - he thought I was kidding....the next night the neighbours were around, we had quite a bit of red wine and the next thing I can remember was seeing a red eglu and three chickens in my shopping basket and pressing "order".....

I blame the wine....
