Eggy-Bread
I'm about to use flubenvet for the first time and have bought the medicated premixture (240g) which I guess is a powder, but being a complete wally when it comes to sums I need help with how much per bird (I have 2) per day or feed. I'm terrified of giving the wrong dose. I'm intending giving it to them with some sweetcorn so I know it'll be eaten. Please help and I'll be grovelingly grateful
Ain't Nobody Here
Don't panic, Mady . I think we all worried ourselves sick about the dosage when we first used Flubenvet but it's very simple if you only have a couple of hens. I use the grape method, cut one in half, dip the wet side into some powder and give one half grape to each hen. Do this once a day for seven days. So it's one half grape per hen per day for seven days. If your girls don't like grapes, you could use apple or anything wet you can dip into the powder. Hope that helps! Edit: just noticed you plan to use sweetcorn - I think if you just sprinkle a little onto some corn and give it to them in a dish, they should manage to get equal amounts. TAJ
The actual dosage equates to 1g per chciken over the whole 7 day course 0 people usually work on that being a pinch, per chciken per day. Tracy
Eggy-Bread
phew, thanks for that. I'll use grapes too as that sounds much easier and then I can be sure both girlies get the same amount. I shall sleep happier now - thanks again !
Hen Watch
Mady, I used the grape method too. Take a look at this for working out dosage. http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18663&highlight=flubenvet I used 4g for 4 birds (which is 1 level teaspoon used over 7 days), then you need 2g for 2 birds. Ain't Nobody Here
One word of warning, make sure you separate your girls while giving them the grapes. They can move like lightening and grab the other girl's grape before you can stop them . Mine have had a double dose a couple of times . Mrs Webmuppet
Mine hate grapes so I mix it in with the pellets.........I mix up a weeks worth of pellets in a tub ..........larger amount & easier sums!
