They have been here less than 24 hours and first question

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Ex-batts arrived today and are doing great, just slightly worried about a little thing on the back of one of my girls legs. To me it looks like an extra dew claw without the nail on as is the same colour as her feet, doesn't look sore, bleeding, open or anything at all, infact she pays no attention to it....but me being the worrier that i am, just wondered if anyone else had seen anything like this before and reasure me this is something i need not worry about???

Thanks,

mummy hen

Never seen anything like it, so cannot help BUT lovely to look at the photos, They look pretty good on the feather front and look at home already - did they go to bed, or did you have to show them?

Gland its going well.

Thanks Tracy, can't believe they are actually here...eek!

We decided to put them in about 10 to 9 just before dusk really set in as our ramp is quite steep. Florence had made it up to rung 2 but didn't want to risk it. They were good as gold and stood there for me to pick them up and put them in - wouldn't have thought it would take them long though as think they are already eager to be out free-ranging.

What a lovely story, mummy hen. Thanks so much for sharing with us here.

But crikey, how did you discover the spur so soon? After more han a month I'm still trying to tell one hen from the other by the colour of their legs and their feathering. Very impressive that you noticed such a detail!

Enjoy!
