Troy
Dont mean to sound daft but just wondered how aubiose does'nt drop thru the slit in the cube at the bottom of the nest box?? Should there be something else underneath the aubiose ?? Troy
Phosphorus
Mine drops through, but then I have it in the run anyway so I just top it up a bit I only have two laying at present so not much movement in and out other than at bedtime!
Sheilaz
Not daft at all. I put a large handful of Aubiose either end of the nestbox, then just sprinkle a little around the slit, then top up as necessary. Well, it keeps me amused & seems to work well. Troy
Thank you ladies. What is the gap in the nest box for anyway?
over easy
think the slit is for drainage. anyway i put auboise in nest box too, at first i did cover slit with cardboard to stop auboise falling thru,at that time the chooks slept in there too but since removing the cardboard i have found they now sleep on the bars and dont go in there anymore leavin it nice and clean to lay their eggs, maybe they did not like the draft ? Egluntyne
I just top it up every couple of days.
Abbey Road Girl
I've used duct tape to cover the slit as I can't powerwash. I just clear up by hand. You can, however, use the slit to deposit fresh bedding into the run. My run is partly on soil and partly on slabs. I would love to have the run be drier, but even though my garden is very well-drained, it's all much wetter than I would like. But they do seem to be digging big holes! And I am giving them lots of aubiose!
