Not Laying

Recommended Posts

:(

Tikka, Bhuna, Korma & Keema are definately on strike!!!

They have become extremely lazy and I am only getting about 3 eggs aweek and thats in total, from 4 hens!!!

They are two speckledeys, one Gingernut Ranger and one Miss Pepperpot, the two speckledeys are only 18months old and the gingernut and pepperpot are about 3.

I think that we treat them too well, they have their own sunny purpose built enlosure, which the eglu and run sit in, they have porridge every day and an endless supply of greens.

Any ideas why they just are not laying?? Has anyone else got the same problem at the moment??

Yours Eggless!!! :cry::cry::cry:

The Gingernut and Pepperpot at three years old will be laying less, as they are coming to the end of their laying life. They may even have stopped laying already.

The other two should be laying most days in summer, however. Are they otherwise well? Have you checked all the obvious things (worms, mites)?

, they have porridge every day and an endless supply of greens.

The answer mmight be in this sentence.

Don't overdo it with the treats as it crowds out the optimum nutrition required for laying, as provided by the pwllets.

Why not confine them to their run for a few days until mid afternoon, so that they only have access to pellets, and then let them free range only then.

Severely cut back on extras and you should notice an increase in egg production.

Also, check for lice, redmite and consider worming them.

An infestation of any of these will affect the laying.
