In answer to your question we would say both, because on a windy day you would generate more power than with solar and on a sunny day there is more chance of it not been windy, so solar power would be the choice.

Who ever set that question should answer this, What would be their choice be and why?

But do we have either the answer is no because at the moment it is too costly to purchase for us. As there costs are so much to recover with the finances available at the moment. It would take 5 yrs plus to recover the money in the saving made, so at the moment it is not high on the spends.

I voted for solar, because although I don't have it yet, it's the only thing I could realistically install in an ordinary urban house. Wind turbines need a lot of space.

 

I do have friends who have one - they live in a converted barn on a large exposed site, and the turbine is on a 25m mast. It's just not possible for most people living in built-up areas, whereas solar panels can be installed on most houses. It's a big investment though - I'm waiting till my roof needs replacing and then I will get some.

up here on the north east coast, we are more likely to get a good windy day than a blazing sunny one.

Hmm, bit tricky to answer . Does it mean as a national power source or what you'd like for your own house? .

 

Living in Scotland, I'd vote for wind - there's a lot more of that than sun .

Solar I guess, simply because I think the wind turbines are an eyesore. Solar panels can be fitted on a house/buildings roof and are more discreet to the landscape.
