Damp patches found on roosting bars

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'm worrying unnecessarily, but the past couple of mornings when I've gone to check the nest box and empty the litter tray, I've noticed a couple of clear puddles on the bars and in the tray!

Never noticed this before. Is there any cause for alarm? The poos all look normal. :?

You don't say if you have a Cube or an Eglu? If it's the former, are you sure it's not leaking?

You surely couldn't have missed the lengthy threads on this in the Eglus & Cubes section ... Omlet are sending out a fix. If it's not this, I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid. Do you think one of your hens is leaking?

It's an eglu. there had been no rain the night before or anything. In fact, I'd cleaned it and put put diatom, red mite powder, and bokashi all over it, so they damp patches really stood out. The clear liquid definitely came from a hen. Has "Ooops, word censored!"ody else had this, seriously? I posted it on the clinic forum too, because I wasn't having any replies, and someone kindly locked it. Nice.

May be a silly answer, but it's not chicken urine (or whatever it is) is it? I had a panic not long after getting my girls and posted on here to ask what the mass of clear liquid on my patio was, and that was the answer :lol:
