Are Omlet chickens wormed?

Recommended Posts

Hi

Im not sure that they are wormed but when I got mine I left them for a couple of months keeping my eye on them.

Once you start to worm them you have set of on your own routine and being new you will be watching all the time anyway because they are such time wasters :D

Happy hen keeping :D

As far as I know, Omlet hens, like most hybrids, will have been raised in conditions where they are not exposed to worms. Therefore, you should be ok to start your worming routine after the interval recommended by the product you choose to use. Flubenvet is every 6 months, but not sure about verm-x as I have never used it.

I worm using flubenvet every 4-6 months as my chooks live on the same ground all year round in a walk-in run so there is a bigger likelihood of a build up of parasites.

Mine have never had worms.

(In case you think I am showing off, they have had red mite, mice, rats, and foxes. And they probably don't get out enough to catch worms.)

I check the poo as I empty it, and don't plan to worm unless it becomes necessary. If you aren't allowed to sell the eggs from hens undergoing worm treatment, I am not sure that I want to eat them either.
