New rabbit & eglu owner - advice required

Recommended Posts

I leave mine to roam about, when we first got the eglu we shut him in on a night but on a few occasions he somehow managed to open the door and was sat in the run the next morning with the door closed behind him. its a compelte mystery how he did it.

I think there was a survey on this before and views were mixed.

My rabbits are ok shut in at night and often sit inside during the heat of the day as it appears to be much cooler in there. That said they did force the door open the other morning as OH had not shut it properly.

As they are most active morning and evening perhaps it is best to give them the choice by leaving the door almost shut. I shut mine in as I want to sleep at night without worry.

My lionheads currently (for the last 5 years) have a wooden run with a cat kennel inside it (although they will probably be moving into a rablu soon) and they have never been locked in. The run is sat on paving stones with sawdust and hay, so that they cannot burrow out and so that preditors cannot get in.
