Liz George
Hello We've just been to collect our two new bunnies. Just wondered if people generally shut their bunnies in the eglu at night or leave them free to roam into the run? Thanks!
sarahapp
I leave mine to roam about, when we first got the eglu we shut him in on a night but on a few occasions he somehow managed to open the door and was sat in the run the next morning with the door closed behind him. its a compelte mystery how he did it. catherinee99
I think there was a survey on this before and views were mixed. My rabbits are ok shut in at night and often sit inside during the heat of the day as it appears to be much cooler in there. That said they did force the door open the other morning as OH had not shut it properly. As they are most active morning and evening perhaps it is best to give them the choice by leaving the door almost shut. I shut mine in as I want to sleep at night without worry. Hockeyaholic
I shut mine in at night & I have since I got them a year and a half ago - so it's all they know. They're fine with it. They have plenty of space to stretch as Delilah's a netherland dwarf & Tallulah is a mini lop.

The Dogmother
Bunnies are diurnal and don't like being shut in at night, when they are very active. I leave the rablu door open for mine, they like to nest in the run any way.
Happy-Mama
I leave the rablu door open all the time, benji often goes in the rablu during the day but in the evening much prefers to be out in the run
Chuck Morris
My lionheads currently (for the last 5 years) have a wooden run with a cat kennel inside it (although they will probably be moving into a rablu soon) and they have never been locked in. The run is sat on paving stones with sawdust and hay, so that they cannot burrow out and so that preditors cannot get in.
