Hi everyone.

 

Am getting ready for the arrival of my eglu and 3 housemates, and am concerned about the foxie problem and i do have the occasional one in my garden. Also worried about the noise issue as they will be much nearer a neighbours window (who sleeps with it open) than mine. Would hate for them or my chooks to be stressed in the night....

My own experience is that the Foxwatch does work. I haven't see any signs of foxes since I installed one, before they were in and out of the garden day and night I wouldn't rely on it totally though, still supervise freeranging time. Can't help with the noise problem. I have really quiet chickens thank goodness. I think it's the luck of the draw as to whether you end up with noisy or quiet ones, sorry

I agree....it does help, but don't rely on it totally, especially in early months of the year when there are hungry cubs to feed.

I've been thinking of getting a foxwatch too, but have a cat. Do you know if it upsets cats too?

No, my cat does not blink when I walk past it. I really recommend it, as Egluntine says you can't rely on it totally - I never let mine free-range unless I'm in the garden - but it's definitely put the fox off, I haven't seen him since I got one.

Foxwatch definitely works, I saw a fox enter my garden, walk along my fenceline, and then veer off at a right angle as they set off the Foxwatch.

 

I wouldn't rely on it totally, it's "fox resistant" rather than "fox proof" I would say.

 

I have two young cats, and it doesn't seem to bother either of them.

if a fox sees a chicken within reach - then he will go for the chicken and tolerate the irritant of the foxwatch noise. i have lost chickens freeranging while foxwatch is on..

 

the best it can do is discourage foxes from lingering in your garden, tearing up your bins and pooing on your lawns.

 

it WON'T stop a fox taking a free-ranging bird.... but it would discourage a fox from spending ages trying to get into your eglu run..
