Opinions on this for a run please

Recommended Posts

I have a cube on order now!

Do you think this would be big enough to put a cube in, without the cube run? On ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COVERED-WALK-IN-CHICKEN-HEN-POULTRY-RUN-del-included_W0QQitemZ110237969437QQihZ001QQcategoryZ46292QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

I am having 4 chickens, they may also come in the garden for a while when I am around, but `I have to aware of poo as I have minded toddlers during the day.

I like the one from flytesofancy, http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/acatalog/Poultry_Protection_Pens.html but it is more expensive, this one seems good value as it has a roof.

I am in a very rural area, and it will be down the bottom of the garden. I don't have anyone to make me one, or know anyone who could (DH can't wire a plug or change a light bulb, but very good at earning lots of money!)

I'd love to know what you think.

Thanak you

I have looked at this one in my search for a run, & the thing that put me off it was that the boards at the bottom are so high- good for keeping aubiose inside the run, but I thought I wouldn't be able to see the chickens in the run as I looked down the garden, & they would not be able to see out either, & might get bored?

I love the FSF runs too, but they are a bit too big for my garden, & a bit out of my price range, although they do look extremely well made.

Have you looked at this company-

http://www.grangepetcentre.co.uk/B43-Arun-Apex-flight-Solid-Roof-p-82.html

I have phoned them, & to make me a 12 feet long run would cost £341, plus £35 delivery, but wait times is 4 weeks. The runs aren't very wide, but this would fit quite nicely where my existing eglu run & netted off area is , without taking off any more of my garden.

Bellekatz has one, I hace seen it & it's lovely. Not intruding at all. She painted the wood herself ( got youngsters to help her) & it took hardly any paint to do, & dried really quickly.

I had a reply from Grange, nice chap, helpful, and he quoted me £345 + delivery+ weatherproofing. I'm not sure what the roof is, must check as I don't want felt.

Egluntine, I love the flytesofancy, is yours on a base of any sort, or just on the ground?

Thank you

Alison

That sounds lovely!

I was wondering whether I could it straight down on grass, or whether it really needs a vase of some sort.

Cube due for delivery 11th July! ( at the moment with a run, but may cancel the run if I get an enclosure up in time)
