wombatally
Hi We are building up our flock of 3 (was 4 until earlier this week when we lost one ). We were going to get another 2 but will now get 3 to add to a speckledy and 2 Goldlines. I have tried everywhere over the last few weeks to find a columbine/skyline, bluebelle and another but can't seem to find any in the North East - anyone know of breeders in NE/Scottish Borders/Cumbria - Meadowsweet seem all out at the moment. We'd like 3 different ones, and have found a Mendlesham Blue, Coral Nick and Amber Link. Does anyone have any experience of the Amber Link and Coral Nick? We can pick them up in a couple of weeks so I wanted to check that they are suitable for us and the other 3 chooks. I want solid birds that lay well and are docile/friendly and will get on well with the others. Someone on here is bound to have some! Thanks! Egg Lou
I have an Amber Star and a Bluebelle which I believe are the same thing?? Both are lovely! My bluebelle was the least handled and very flighty when I collected her but as the others pick on her a bit she now sticks with me and has become my shadow and very sweet to be around! Not yet had them a week though! Neither are laying yet so can't help with that side if it but woudl recommend them as beautiful, easy to be around and not "bullish" with the rest of flock... also cuddle very well

Ange1
Oh Lou! I don't mean to laugh, well maybe I do, I just recognise the situation! I told boyfriend that he could name two. he imediately chose 'Bert & Ethel'! I tried to explain that the hens had to have girls names, he seemed miffed but I was surprised when he came up with the alternative 'Alberta' ! He says he will still call her Bert or Bertie! So two names have already been chosen, Ethel and Alberta!!!

A mendlesham blue is the same as a bluebelle, the amber link the same as the amber star. The coral nick looks similar to a white star and is a good layer of cream eggs (well mine is anyway!). They should be fine together and with your others.
