An innocent question

Recommended Posts

I still eat chicken, i buy free range or go without (as my pocket dictates) but when i'm at my mothers she sometimes has a surplus cockerel that ends up on the table, to be honest, as this is how we have always been it dosn't bother me. the girlies are pets and are total dears but the boys are always seen differently (although they are ludicrously pampered while they're there)

I hope it dosn't make my family sound like hen-murderers, I think its good, and certaintly taught my brothers and i respect for animals, farmers and for food.

(just twigging on from another thread, we certaintly wouldnt eat any of my mums ex-batts, they are there to have a long and happy retirement!!! :D )

We still eat chicken, but we have always bought local free range from the farm shop down the road...

Our chickens are for eggs anyway, they're not table birds, so wouldn't have that much meat on them!

I won't say we're sick of eggs (we get 28 a week), but lets just say that I have a growing "customer base" at work. I don't sell the eggs, merely give them away. Any money that is given to me ends up in a charity box.
