4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Princess Aurora appears to have received an unluckily aimed peck on her earlobe. There's no real nasty pecking going on, so I know it's just bad luck, but it has bled a little. Is there anything I ought to be doing to make sure it heals safely, or can I just leave it?

FUMOP - have been searching the archives and found that wounds can get pecked more if you don't disguise them.

Hi Clare,

 

I'm sure it will be good to use - it's antiseptic and has violet in it it to disguise blood/wounds. I would get it - I bought gentian violet spray and it sounds much the same as this.

 

You could try Johnsons anti-peck spray or tea tree spray (make it yourself using tea tree oil and water in an atomiser bottle) if there is pecking going on. They haven't worked for me, but have for others.

 

edited to add: You may be safer keeping her apart from the others till you sort the wound out - they may peck at it until you disguise it

No way of keeping her away from the others, but the pecking's not a problem - she's not even bottom of the pecking order! Wendy's been giving teeny little pecks here and there, but not very many and not very violent ones - I think this must have just been an unlucky one and I don't want it getting worse or encouraging more pecking.

Yep,i keep a bottle of genetian violet spray just incase of any injuries.
