Can any of you wise cube owners tell me how you get in to it to top up water and food etc??? Probably a really silly question, but it's got be asked!

I'm not an owner yet I think you open the flap at the front of the run and stick your arm in. Or use a small child if you have any of those available.

You should be able to fill the grub and place it to the left of the door quite easily, within reach without you having to scrabble into the cube run.

 

The Glug is best placed a little higher, again you should be able to do this from the door, to the right, empty then get a watering can and feel it up from the outstide. Don't fill it up too much or you'll struggle to remove due to it being too heavy.

 

I always close the door to the cube (at the top of the ladder) every evening (as well as the door to run), that way its easy to refill the grub and glug without too much trouble in the morning.

I always try to fill up grub and glug when the chooks are in bed and I can close the door to their house. Forgot to do so once and so had to put our food in the morning when they were all running around, threatening to escape and we were all trying to go to work/school, so....I put an umbrella (folded) in the door of the run (only opening door a fraction), then opened up the umbrella and used as a shield to prevent them escaping whist I did the filling up from a galvanised pourer I got from ebay - worked a treat!

It's not a silly question - unfortunately you do have to get down low and poke your arm through the unsuitably tiny door! OK except I often go up to do it just before leaving for work when I'm smartly dressed ....

 

I am going to make an adjustment to mine, see the sticky on here about altering the Cube run so you can hinge the whole of the front down. It looks brilliant, I'm just waiting till I can afford to order an extra arch.

It was 1st Aug but I got bumped up. I didn't mind waiting till 1st Aug as I'd figured I'd managed a lifetime without chickens, a few more weeks wouldn't matter.

Quickcluck, the arch is a support piece that connects the extension run and gives in stability.

 

Some people have been very 'handy' and added an extra one, so that they can make a larger door into the run.
