starman and girls
Hi all new to this hen keeping lark! We have had our 2 for about 7/8 weeks and one of them, Beauty, seems to get what sounds like Hiccups after eating, when the 2 of them run for food and fight over it she then gets loud, short chicken noises that seem involentary. Is this normal? She also sneezes after drinking but we think that is ok!! thanks
chucknette
Hi Yes they do! I have one that does it quite a lot, she is my pepperpot. Every time there is a scrum for treats you can be certain that you will here her hiccupping straight away afterwards. I always shout to her you should eat it slower Best wishes

sleepymummy
Hi, I'm new too. had my girls for about 6/7 weeks. It's my pepperpot who hiccups. Quite a funny sound. Have put tonic in their water but not sure if it's any good really. She has been doing it for days. Doesn't seem to have a cold. Not that would know what a hen cold was like! the first time she did it was after dried meal worms. i thought she had one stuck! She, as far as I can work out is the only one who does the brown fudge poo regularly, every couple of days, she often gets the runs and her poo is full of grass like she's not digesting it. she also hasn't laid yet. Should i be concerned?
