Is it possible to have a non layer?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I got my omlet girls on 2nd May and my 2 of pepperpots have been laying for a while but no sign at all of my gingernut laying. She has been here for nearly 2 months now... She was smaller than the pepperpots when they all arrived so I assumed she was a few weeks younger.

I have wormed her, dusted her with red mite powder approx 3 weeks ago and give a good mixed diet of layers pellets (with garlic powder, bokashi bran, poultry spice, and oyster shell grit) plus corn and green veg and other s"Ooops, word censored!"s (always after 4pm!).

Opinions or advice please....hoping she's well and not something wrong.

Don't mind days off but I'm hoping she isn't a freeloader!

My cousin had 2 GNR from Omlet about 12 months ago and one of them didn't lay. She phoned Omlet and they offered to change the hen. Cousin declined and had 2 new GNR instead! She now has 4 hens and her Ruby has started laying  .

I think my Opal is a part timer! She was the first to lay and was pretty regular until Ruby started and now she thinks she only has to lay an egg every couple of days! She is top chook and obviously likes to oversee and not participate!!

Oh my god....hadn't even thought of that.....how would I tell (apart from the obvious cock-a-doodle-do!!!)

Bigger build, more lavish wattles and comb, dramatic tail feathers which arch over, spurs, pointy hackle feathers.

She is probably just a slow developer.

Don't worry, she'll get round to laying when she's ready. As you can see from our signature, we've had ours since March but one of them only laid for the first time yesterday.

Nothing from her today though so maybe she's a one hit wonder

I've got a freeloader  Luna laid for several months and then had all her feathers pulled out by the other chickens. She hasnt laid a thing since then but at least some of her feathers have grown back since then. If yours has never laid it may just be waiting for the right time :?
