Shade cover or winter cover?

Recommended Posts

My hens need some extra shade during these hot and sunny days but I don't know which to buy. I was going to get the winter shade as I thought that this would not only provide lots of shade but save me charging into the garden every time there is a down pour to put some plastic sacks on the top of the run , not to mention that it would look better than plastic sacks! The feed back from the winter shade is terrible as it seems to rip, is it made from the same stuff as the free shade?

Now there is another shade available which comes in the eglu colours, would this be better?

Please advise before I buy.

My summer shade ripped after about 18 months. I think A fox jumped on it! I think summer and winter shades last around the same length of time it just depends on the wear and tear and who or what sits in top of the Eglu.

When we got our cube, I put the winter shade on the Eglu and an old shower curtain on the Cube, as the girls were always knee deep in mud when it rained and the shade didn't seem to offer enough protection.

I didn't know you could now get shades in Eglu colours. I think I will have to investigate!
