mealworm gluttony!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, Bumble (ex rescue girl) has been poorly recently. She's well on the way to recovery but is not eating much. The vet advised garden worms for extra protein because she's underweight. I've tried these and she is eating them, but not always. I got some mealworms and she TOTALLY loves them. How many should she have though? Is it possible to overdose on them? Also, I think I remember reading that tuna is good for them? IS this right? And again, how much would be good for her? I've tried pellet porrige with corn and honey and poultry spice added, but she's not very interested. Meal worms is the biggest hit. But chicken can not live by mealworm alone...........I assume.........or can she?

i just had some live mealworms delivered. to say they love them is an understatment. even the shy one will now come within 2 feet of me in case she gets a worm!

i'm sure i have overdosed them today on mealworms!

but it si great fun watching them go crazy for them.

Thanks for all your replys. I think I'm a bit too squeemish to give her maggots :vom: I'm only just coping with dried mealworms. Do you think it matters how many she has though? I want her to build her weight up, but I dont want her to miss out on all the nutrients she needs. I'll try her with the tuna, in spring water and some cat food (checking its not 'you know what' flavour). At least that way she's getting a variety of stuff.
