sueg
One of our battery hens sat in the rain yesterday looking very sad with one leg dragging behind. No obvious wounds or bumps but the leg seems paralysed. She can't hop on the perch or bend down to eat but will sit happily in the dog cage full of straw and eat from sitting. Could it be Marek's? It came on suddenly and she is about 2 years old. No other symptoms.
Cate in NZ
Sue, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor girl . Not really sure what to suggest, but I'll pop this into Chicken Clinic where you're more likely to get a response
Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum, Sue. Sorry to hear about your poorly hen . I can't offer advice I'm afraid, just wanted to say hello and offer sympathy .
hils78
Eek - take a look at my post in Chicken Clinic - Stroke or broken leg...sounds very similar. Good luck. x
Egluntyne
I'd check her leg carefully for any swelling or heat, or any grating of bone or deformity. If she has taken a tumble and broken a bone or dislocated something, the evidence will be there now. If you can find nothing, and she is still appearing to be paralysed....a trip to the vet might be a good idea.
ChrisP
I would say a trip to the vets might be in order, better to get it sorted if there is a problem, and if there isn't, it will stop you worrying that there might be. Hope she gets better soon
