Cinnamon
Bramble,my year old French Maran, seems hale & hearty in every way, except that for the past 3 weeks she has only laid shell less or very thin shelled eggs, which are either smashed in the nest or break when picked up She has been recently loused & wormed,is eating well, has Limestone flour in her feed & a splash of Shellstim in her water. Any other tips or ideas? Cleaning out the eggy Aubiose in the nest every day is driving me mad
Egluntyne
Maybe she needs extra vit D......needed for the calcium metabolism. I add codliver oil to the pellets every now and then. Ruined my fave blouse though, by spilling some on it. It won't wash out and it smells like a fish wharf now.
Cinnamon
Good tip. Will it make the mash go all claggy though?
Egluntyne
I use pellets, so it just coated them and made them a bit shiny. The hens didn't notice at all. Such cultured palates. I daresay ot might make mash a bit claggy though. Maybe you could coat some sweetcorn or similar with it instead.
Cinnamon
Yes,thats what I will do,thanks. Actually,I have just given her a bit of a poke & a prod & she is all baldy along her belly & up under her wings,so I guess it could be a mini moult? Maybe I will treat her to some tuna in sunflower oil
