TPFringe
I just wanted to share that I've had a lovely day.... It's my husband's birthday today (the big Four 0 ) so we both had the day off to do 'something nice'. As it turns out, we spent most of the afternoon mooching around 'chicken shopping' . Our 3 ex-batts arrive in 13 days and we're now fully prepared having today purchased layers pellets, straw, red mite powder, Verm-X, corn treats, a little hanging kebab skewer for threading treats onto, a mirror and a big terracotta pot to use as a dustbath. Is there anything that I've forgotten? We spent some time strolling around trinket shops and kithenware shops (hubby loves cooking) and I must admit - I found it quite hard not to buy everything I saw with a chicken on it, or chicken shaped, or anything vaguely chicken related. Hubby recons I've got a serious case of chicken feaver! (I know he's right though - it's ALL I can think about). Still got 13 days till Davina, Fern and Judy arrive... sigh. SAB
You may need to add water to layers pellets to make a mash as most folk recommend this is more familiar to them - having said that, our ex-batts would not eat mash, but did eat pellets. Grapefruit seed oil and Apple cider vinegar are both good for chooks and humans health in general. Rescue Remedy (Boots/Holland and Barratt/etc) - same as for humans - great in water for calming stressed ex-batts. Enjoy your lucky girls! alih
just wait till you have had the chooks a day or three, your husband won't know what has hit him! Mine catches me gazing lovingly at ours whenever i can and reckons I love them more than eveyone else in the family
TPFringe
Ha Ha, yes, I'm sure! I'm already gazing longingly at the area of the garden where they will be - I wont be able to keep my eyes off them once they are actually there!
