melly264
Okay its war! Just been reading through some backdated topics about this, eglutine mentioned poisons being 'species specific'. Does this mean that the poison and the poisoned rats wee and poo being completely safe for the chickens? I am worried that before they die the rats may leave poisoned deposits around the garden which in turn may harm the chickens. What experience/information about this does anyone else have? melly264
thanks eglutine, have i heard that one been mentioned before - but in terms of it not being that successful? I seem to remember a posting about one of the baits and 'beet' pellets, or was it 'beetroot' pellets......? I may have to trawl through backpostings to findout! Egluntyne
Not heard of it, but google threw up this: i dont know if it works or if it is particularly humane, but ive been told that sugar beet used as horse feed can be used. The rats stuff themselves on the stuff, which once in the stomach expands, bursting the stomach, killing the rat BUT not leaving the corpse full of poison should owls or other animals eat the remains?
