Can I Bath My Chicken??

Recommended Posts

I bought a gold silkie last weekend and its very very smelly, just from lifting it out of its box when i got her home the smell got imprinted onto my hands and clothes.

After a week or so in the fresh air and cleanliness of my garden i'm sure she will clean herself up, but is there something i can do now, like give her a bath?

If so what should i add to the water, i doubt they appreciate bubblebath!

Hello Jack

I've never actually bathed a chicken but I think you should give her a chance to settle in. She will be a bit upset by the journey and so bathing her might not be exactly what she needs right now.

As you say the smell might go away once she has had a chance to free range and give herself a dust bath. :D

atm she doesnt have the run of the full garden with the rest of the flock whilst she settles in however, i have put a tray of soil in and she has been using it. Hopefully she will clean herself up soon.

thanks for the suggestions.
