Posted July 24, 2008 Share Posted July 24, 2008 I'm asking this question for a friend- she has a old shed which is not secure enough to house bikes, lawn movers etc, & she would like some advice on adapting it into a chicken house. Her hens will have a home-made run as well. Apart from needing nestboxes & perches I'm not sure on how much ventilation the hens would need, or light? It needs to be wind-wand-water tight, and it needs to have ventilation. It needs to have as few nooks-and-cranies for mite to gather in, so that generally counts against felt roofs - if possible Onduline is much better, if she is replacing the roof. Access for egg-collecting and cleaning - she needs to think about easiest way to sort this out.
