chickencam
I have spent most of the day so far reading NB posts and I am just about to move on. We were only away for 3 days but it is about 5 days since I last logged on. I was on hold trying to get tickets for the Cheltenham literature festival for 45 minutes this morning that gave me some forum time. I really should be ironing. We had a great holiday, we were supposed to be going camping to Golden Cap in Dorset but the weather forecast of wind and rain put us off, so we got a last minute caravan for 3 nights at Ladram Bay, Budleigh Salterton in Devon instead. We booked it at 9am and were there by 4.30 and it only took us that long because OH couldn't get away from work until 1pm. DS had a flu like bug while we were there but with plenty of paracetamol he managed about half an hour in the sea and said he still enjoyed himself. We are going back at half term in October I think. We got a good caravan really clean and with a sea view not bad for last minute booking. Lots of alcohol was consumed in the entertainment complex we really relaxed it was great , only a few days but a good getaway. Tried to catch mackeral from the beach but no luck one day maybe, but we did buy two for 50p each from a local who fishes from a little boat which he takes out from the beach most days. They were delish Going to a cottage in North Wales about mid-way between both sets of parents in a couple of weeks but we needed our dose of seaside first
Joojoo
Pleased that you had such a good time. Even a few days away is good for forcing you to relax You'll have to go out on a fishing boat trip and catch some mackerel yourself when you go in October. That's something I've always fancied doing, but never got round to. I'd imagine it would be great fun so long as the sea wasn't too choppy
chickencam
We keep meaning to do that too, we have been faffing about from the beach for too long now
Rolo Rabbit
We've just come back from camping near Golden Cap! Well, we came back Sunday afternoon. The weather was ok - quite sunny on Friday and hot enough for me to venture in the swimming pool on Saturday. Golden Cap is one of my favourite places in the world - DS and I climbed up it last summer and I've been waiting all year to do it again but we'd planned to do it on Sun afternoon and the weather was starting to look dodgy so we didn't. Mind you , Budleigh S is lovely too. Glad you had a good time.
Phonix
I thought the same when I got back!!! Far to much to catch up on just reading, never mind replying! Id been to devon too but to a cottage near Bideford - we had a couple of really hot days at the beach boogie boarding and a few days of horrid rain but no cold thank god! xXx
