Old Speckled Hen
Are first laid eggs small? My gingernut has just started laying and her eggs are the size of Bantie eggs. Do they get bigger?

Peachy77
Sorry, its our gingernut ranger that isnt laying yet. She seems a lot smaller in comparison to the pepperpot and amber star, but has been crouching a while now and even went up in the house today for the 1st time in the day. So maybe it will be soon. Not sure though as her comb and wattles are still quite small.

Old Speckled Hen
That's great news. Not that I mind really, they do look a dinky size. One of the other hens (though not the one I thought would be next) has just started to lay and spent an hour unproductively in the nest box yesterday. I later found an egg on the grass!!! I'm going away this weekend and the girls will be confined to the coop and run. Perhaps she will get the hang of where to leave her eggs!!
