Jules.
Today is the first day of two where I have to withdraw the eggs as I have sprayed the girls with Johnsons mite powder, to get rid of the nasty beasties. It's such a shame that the eggs will have to be thrown away.
lisa33
It's horrible isn't it? I felt terrible throwing Pepper's eggs away, esp. as she ate most of them herself and it was so rare to be able to rescue any.
Yolky
I would hate to have to throw away their eggs, I can see why you are sad about it
Cinnamon
Why not save them to scramble up & feed back? I use Ivomec as a preventative on my hens & treat half the flock at a time,so I at least get some eggs, but of course you can't do this if they already have little visitors
Snowy
Definitely feed them back to the hens! Will give them a protein boost while they are being treated!
quickcluck
Can I ask if you have to treat them even if they have no mites??? I use DE in the cube after cleaning, in the poo trays, and in the dust bath... should I be doing more??? thanks
