Gallina
I would be a bit cautious. I assume you mean Saponaria officinalis, which is slightly poisonous to humans. You can sometimes tell from the common names of weeds what to be careful with. For instance, Henbane is obviously very poisonous to hens, while they love Fat Hen. Soapwort in the past was used to make soap, but never eaten.
Sandychick
I don't know if I'm right or wrong in doing this but I generally let mine decide for themselves. I've looked at the list of poisonous plants and there are many on the list that I wouldn't recognise if they were under my feet! Mine have eaten almost everything green in their area. Only the brambles, conifers and nettles have survived. I really have no idea if some of what they ate was on the poisonous list or not but they all look very well
AJuff
Just to digress slightly . . . my fave hen Felicity sussex star s"Ooops, word censored!"ped up a pot on the pation today and ate all the jelly like moisture retaining globs. I don't know how many she's eaten but I hope she's ok tomorrow.
