We have had our girls for over a month now and have grown to love each of them very much, the pleasure they bring to us is immense.

 

We have 3 children and have found ourselves spending more time outside oooohing and ahhhing than ever before, many an evening spent sat on the bench at the end of our garden(me with a lovely glass of red wine) watching our chickens happily pecking and scratching around without a care in the world.

 

The feeling when we found our first egg 4 days ago was one of indescribable pride and gratitude mixed with excitement, never in all my life would I have realised how much these four little chickens could teach us and how much they would make us smile.

 

We are learning more by the day and growing to love them more, how can a feathered "agricultural" animal create such intense feelings?

 

Anyway I just wanted to let everyone know my positive experience and joy these girls have brought to me and my children.

 

Yes there are downsides......poooooooooo--- Everywhere if you are like us and let them free-range, it's a very very small downside and the benefits in my opinion far outweigh the negatives.

That is such a lovely message, SOOOOOO glad you are enjoying them! It makes your heart swell looking at them sometimes doesn't it? Makes you wonder why we never did it before, I can't imagine life without hens now

I agree so much, i will never again be without chickens. I ate my first egg this morning and I will never enjoy another egg as much in my life i don't think.
