Silly question but Im looking for a suitable place for the cube to go

and Im checking how much room i need to open the actual plastic door to the cube?

 

Does it open in the same way a eglu does?

with the black catch lifted , twisted and pushed back in?

 

it looks like it needs to come out a long way in the photos...so wanted to check....

 

as where I would like it to go it might not have quite enough space on that side....

Hi Kim.

 

I just ran outside and measured for you.

It sticks out 27cm in total (measuring from the outside wall of the cube to the tip of the handle) and you just twist and pull, then the door opens and you push it back in so that it is flush again........hope that helps.

You do need quite a bit of space to pull the metal bar out of the cube in order to open the door. It does not open like the eglu. Instead, the bar pulls out from the side, then you twist it, then push it back in to open the door.

Have you asked Omlet about a reconditiond one? They are a bit cheaper than the full price ones, and usually available a bit quicker. I know one forum member who bought one and it came within a few weeks, rather than months!

Yes I phoned the other day and they said they only had rablus in...

 

Ive put a wanted up on the forum and bidding on the one on ebay..

 

Fingers crossed, something will come up trumps...

It is worth keeping an eye open on the for sale section. I bought our second cube from a lady who was selling hers after only having it for four or five months. She felt her hens needed a bigger house as she had Orpingtons.
