chooklady
Congratulations. I had an orange cube delivered today aswell. Chooks are now safely tucked up to roost. We put a light inside and one went in then we had to coax a couple in then the next 2 were alright and then we popped the last one in shut the door and they were quiet. Brilliant. Mumpty
I'm so jealous, I have to wait another month Wow, you have a lot of chooks coming, I've ordered 4 with the cube and will go out and maybe get 2 others but I'm now thinking I should just have two with the cube and get 4 different ones elsewhere - decisions, decisions, I don't know what to do. Scotia Chick
We thought that we would just go for it get a group of pretty layers and some even prettier ladies to strut their stuff in the garden. My hubby who I have now named Chicken George will have all the hard work, I will have the fun and our friends will enjoy the eggs. How long will that be since ordering your cube we were 10 weeks. Ain't Nobody Here
Welcome to the forum Scotia Chick (and Chicken George - that shows your age ) - nice to have another Scot on board . Good luck getting your girls - sounds like a nice selection . You're advised to leave them in their run for 5 or so days so they get "home" imprinted in their wee brains. chooklady
The Omlet man assembled the cube, although it didn't look too complicated! We also have a walk-in run.
Scotia Chick
Nice to know there are some scots who keep hens, we took a bit of time finding breeders in our area but were glad to find THe Happy Hen Hoose in Portknockie and Mad Chicken Woman In Banchory. We were intending leaving them in the run for a week and letting them have the run of the garden after that. Will see how it goes. Yes Chicken George does sort of age you we are sad to admit watching the series when it was first shown. What birds do you have and what type of henhouse? Scotia Chick
The Omlet man assembled the cube, although it didn't look too complicated! We also have a walk-in run. My hubby says lucky you, we live too far away to have that done for us. He still enjoyed doing it as he had nothing better to do well thats what I told him. Wait til the ladies come then he will have 11 of us telling him what to do. LUCKY MAN
Ain't Nobody Here
I watched it first time round too . I've got a Rhode Island Red, a Columbine and a Pied Suffolk - all bought from a local farmer and chosen by colour rather than breed! They live very happily in their blue eglu.
