Jewels
My girls arrived this morning amid the the high winds and rain - only one cringing was me in my pink windcheater coat lol. I noticed my girls getting a bit anxious at dusk, kept pacing looking about, put a torch in the cube coup like I had read on this site and it worked, and after much flapping, Josephine managing to perch on top of the super glug, they went into the coup, i shut the door and took out the torch from the egg door, then discovered Georgina was sleeping in the egg laying area, is this normal?? Posted elsewhere on the site was my concern about 'yellow poops', some are normal some are not, I have held back a bit on the treats, read about garlic powder in their feed helping with poop smells, but can I use the human garlic powder from health shops? Also my friend got her chooks two weeks ago, one arrived sneezing, now two are sneezing, she phoned Omlet they said she have a cold and tried to sell her some stuff, does she need this or will it clear up on its own? No discharge from nostrils etc., Anyway, thanks to anyone who replies, looking forward to many more postings etc.,
Egluntyne
Congratulations. Don't worry about the yellow poos....they are normal when the chickens have just arrived. Just keep them on pellets and water for a couple of days, with a little bokashi bran naadded to the pellets, if you have some to hand. The garlic powder you need is the horsey type, available in biggish tubs from equestrian type shops.
