Patridge bantam chicken poorly foot?

Just wondering roughly when they lay or is it really just dependent on the chook? Raquel laid her first yesterday morning around 11.30. I'm patiently waiting this morning for another egg but so far nothing. I always assumed they would lay quite early?

 

May be she was waiting for me to clean out the nesting box. One of them keeps pooing in it

I had made similar assumption, but (of those of mine that are laying) afternoon seems to be their most common time!

Still nothing. Do they usually miss a day after they have laid their first egg?

Apparently they can be a be irratic at the beginning, so dont worry yourself.... Margo lays for 2/3 days then has a couple off, same with Penny.....

 

I also read that is takes a hen 25hrs to make an egg, so the times make change!!

Mine lay at all times of the day. Starting at 6am and finishing at 5.30pm.

 

Annie is always a late layer. Yesterday at 5.30pm I took the side off my coup to clean it out and was confronted by a very indignant Annie who gave me the evil eye for disturbing her

Yes she finally laid at 3.30pm!!

 

Got home from swimming and noticed that the shredded paper from the box was near the door of the Eglu. Went outside to only find Hilda and Betty. Raquel was in the nesting box!! She came out and I went to have a look but nothing!

 

Anyhow, half an hour later she finally laid one - 42g today so 3g heavier than yesterday. Bettie watched her the entire time too. Do they usually what each other laying??
