Does this count as crouching?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, one of our Cream Legbar growers, Mrs Doyle (approx 20 weeks old) crouched last night, but it wasn't when I went to pick her up. It was when our top chook, Gemma walked past, does this still count? Or is it because Gemma is in charge, she was just being submissive, rather than a sign she is going to lay?

Thanks for any help.

Sounds like that to me too...My girls who are laying crouch whenever Ouiser (top chook, not laying) approach. At first I thought it was the pecking order, but that is when I first noticed Clairee crouching, that same day she also started crouching when I approched. The next day an egg! :D

YAY :D.

Our older girls are starting to moult now, and will stop laying soon. Hopfully our little uns' will keep us supplied with eggs through winter .

I'm still trying to get over the fact that they aren't little baby chicks anymore, I've had them since day olds, I guess they're growing up .

Thanks guys
