beapea
We've been keeping chickens since late June so not exactly experienced! An 18-week old Jubilee Orpington has what looks like an eye infection - yellow, slightly swollen patch very close to the cornea on left eye. She's disoriented and evidently can't see very well; first noticed it yesterday. Can anyone advise please? beapea
Egluntyne
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your hen's eye. I would bathe it with a cool saline solution or tea (yes, really!) ( no milk, no sugar), which has soothing and antiseptic properties and maybe consider takinfg her to a vet tomorrow, to be on the safe side. Sounds as if she has scratched the surface of her eye, or maybe she has been pecked.
beapea
Thank you, Egluntine. She's rather better this morning but I'm going to try the tea treatment. She's a bully so might have been getting her just desserts from one of the others! beapea
