beapea
One of our Orpingtons has been off colour for a couple of days. Discovered this morning that she has a slight discharge from her nostrils and her beak/mouth were clogged up with snot, which we've removed with cotton buds. She's not sneezing or coughing. What should we do? beapea
Egluntyne
You could try her with Citricidal in the drinking water. Available from the Omlet shop or health food type shops.
Daphne
how is she this morning?
beapea
Thank you - it's such a help to know there are other, experienced, hen keepers out there! She was pretty glum this morning so I took her to the vet, who diagnosed upper respiratory tract infection. He gave her antibiotic and I have to repeat the injections twice more. Think I'll get some Citricidal anyway - I didn't know about it. beapea
Daphne
Good - I'm sure you did the right thing. Fingers X the antibiotics clear it up and your girl gets back to normal asap so she can carry on doing her chickeny things and you can carry on enjoying her
Egluntyne
I hope the antibiotics soon sort her out.
