lisa33
How can I do this without seperating her from the others. I adopted her in May so she wouldn't be on her own any more. She's about 3 years and 10 months ish. The last few days she has been very poorly. On Saturday she wouldn't eat or drink anything and just kept laying / pooing an albumen like substance. i had to bathe her and pull it out as it was just hanging and the others tried to eat it. On Sunday morning she managed to expel 2 soft shells and for the rest of the day was fine, pecking and scratching and doing chickeny things. Monday morning she was poorly again, not eating and expelling this albumeny stuff again. When I got home last night I felt her crop and she had eaten a little but not very much. I got her to eat a small amount of chopped tomatoes but she turned her beak up at porridge and mash. She took herself off to bed early and this morning the poo tray had quite a lot of the albumeny stuff in it but no shell. She is still not eating. I realise that she is more than likely at her henopause, but I just wondered if there is a way of making it any easier on her. I don't really want to seperate her from the others as she enjoys being with them. I just hate seeing her so ill though. It's really hard having to come into work when I just want to stay at home and make sure she's OK. Can anyone offer any advice please? Egluntyne
Maybe she needs a bit more calcium. Why not try her with a bit of limestone flour (calcium carbonate....sold at equestrian shops) and a dollop of cod liver oil stirred into her pellets? Or you could add a calcium and vitamin supplement such as Zolcal D to her drinking water.
lisa33
I already put limestone flour in the food and a multi nutrients powder stuff that I got from Thornes (chicken place) in their water. I will get some cod liver oil and give her some of that. Can I just use the cod liver oil for humans on her?
hils78
Is there any way of taking her off layers food & putting her onto growers without seperating her from the others?
lisa33
I don't think so. The other three will eat whatever I try to give her. We have to lock them in the conservatory at the moment when I'm trying to get her to eat something.
