mostin
I lasted a full week and a half of chicken ownership before I decided I needed a full flock rather than a pair. My two are so close I am scared if something happens to one of them the other will die of grief. It took me over two years to convince OH to get those two but he has fallen for them as well and has spend this week rigging up a second run and house so we can do a proper introduction. I picked up my new girls today. You can see pictures of them on the website mentioned in my signature. I got them from Jody at Raw Green Cottages. I named the Amber Link first as she is really blonde, almost white, and keeps puffing up her hair and sticking her huge chest out. Because of this she was named Dolly, in honour of Dolly Parton. The Black Rock is a wee bit croaky and my hubby chose to name her after another singer so she is Shirley, after Shirley Bassey. So far so good with my other hens. Priscilla my boss gal made quite a bit of noise at first but then quietened down. We let the old gals out to free range and fed them all treats along the same fence line and there was only one tiny peck from Priscilla at Shirley. I was pleased it went so well, but I will be taking things very slowly. Can't wait till my new girls are less shy and I get my first cuddle
