dancing cloud
In several posts on the subject of hennie-porridge there's been mention of marmite and I thought I'd give it a go to add variety to the usual mix. As I'm not a fan of the stuff , how much do you use? I assume a very small amount, but roughly how small? Does it have to be marmite or will Tesco's own beef extract be as good? Many thanks
Al
I think Tesco's own Yeast Extract should be ok. When you next go to the supermarket you could compare the ingredients in each.
Nicola O
Marmite, mmmmmmmmmmm - love it !! I do a slice of toast, spread liberally with marmite and cut into small squares (so they can all get some). My girlies go MAD for it . Egluntyne
It is rather salty, so I spread it thinly. Mine love it.

dancing cloud
Many thanks for this - I'll put it on my shopping list for tomorrow and have a read of labels instead of doing my usual Tesco routine of "grabbit and run" I assume I just put a little in porridge - half a teaspoon or so? Me? Spoil my hens? Never!
mayflower
Hi, well, thought, this sounded a good idea sooo...made the hens and myself toast and marmite. It was so funny. As I laid the dish down for the hens, Annie made a noise I had'nt heard before. A kind of under the breath impatient sound as if to say 'oh for goodness sake, what is she giving us now?' Five minutes later I went out to see how they were getting on and half of it was still in the dish with Annie give me her 'we are not amused' look. So I apologised...yes I know.... and gave them lettuce instead. Anyway, all is not lost. I enjoyed mine.
