alih
...laying in the eglu run? She has been doing it for about a week having laid in the eglu for the past 9 months! It's really tricky to get them out without breaking them. Do I shut them in the eglu at night or is there anything else I can try?
Egluntyne
Why not put a couple of golf balls in the nest to give her a clue about where she should be laying.
alih
now there's a thought! she usually lays last but has been laying first this week so maybe she does just need something there to remind her! thanks as always Egluntine
mrs chook
I put a ceramic egg into my newbies nest box and it worked. Margot who only started laying yesterday did lay in the run tho , so will leave it in place for a few more days until she gets the hint, bless . Good luck! piptiddlepip
Two of mine started off laying in the run, and I found one under a patio chair in the garden a week ago! judicious use of a broom helped roll the egg towards me without breaking it. They got the idea after a while though. Esme's been laying in the box from the first egg.
peanut12
Some of mine lay in funny places if the nest boxes are full of other hens. I.e - when you gotta go, you gotta go Could it be that they are all in sync and queuing at the same time? In the last week or so we have had one on the bars, one in the run and one in the compost heap Then today, all in the nest boxes.
