Eglu Go With 2m Run For Sale

Can anybody help? I'm a bit worried about our buff pekin. She's about ten months old - we've had our bantams since March. Recently we've had red mites in the eglu but hopefully have eradicated them with scrubbing, red mite powder and a new set of the plastic roosting bars. This weekend, Marge seems to have shed half her feathers - her neck is looking really scraggy. I'm not sure how or when they are supposed to moult, whether the mites are back or whether it's another more serious problem. She appears to be eating normally.

 

I've also read that you can lose hens to red mite so I'm really worried now that we may have a very serious problem on our hands. Can anyone help?

Well I'm not an absolute eggspert but from what I've heard Pekins do start moulting now and if you look at some pics then you will see that look pretty much like you described!

Thanks Tom. Perhaps it is just a moult. She does seem OK. The mites just worry me to bits. I'm going to give our girls another good clean and dusting down in any case. Marge certainly doesn't seem ill, so fingers crossed.
