Cinnamon
Likewise with my eldest daughter Kitbag, she is in year 11 too & has never had a detention. My youngest is making up for it though - 3 this half term already
jackiepoppies
I got detention many, many , many moons ago (over 50 years ) and I told my mother I had been asked to stay behind to help some other girl who didn't understand the lesson I never found out if she knew the truth or not. Guest
Parents, tutors and in my current school pupils should sign the planners every week - it lets everyone know they are being looked at by all the interested parties. There are parents who would never see the planner otherwise - they don't care enough to look for it and the kids don't want to offer it to them. As a tutor I frankly don't give a monkeys. Its a load of hassle remembering to check them all every week, noting which havn't been signed, issuing detentions which I HAVE TO ATTEND! etc etc. BUT it's school policy and the head of year checks up. Also one planner a week is taken away to be checked by the Head of Year. And then theres the parents that phone up to complain TO ME that I've issued the detention to their child for not having their planner signed. I don't do it the first day, I remind and nag EVERY DAY the kids whose planners hadn't been signed. Then when they havn't been signed the second week in a row I remind and nag EVERY DAY to get them signed, when it gets to week 3 I can't avoid it any longer I set them a detention. Then I have to remember to stay behind after school and supervise the detention. Thats IF the parents havn't complained to me that I'm being petty and stated they won't allow the child to attend. My son is in year 2 and I read his planner every single day. I NEVER REMEMBER to sign it! I'm guessing that when he gets to secondary school he is going to have to learn to say "MUMMY SIGN THIS" otherwise he will be doing a LOT of detentions!
